Supervisors Shortlist
Professor Chao Huang
- Has multiple worl related to RAG, Graph Models, and LLMs
- Some Projects:
- Paper2Slides: Close to my work in SEU.
- RAG-Anything: This is the project I wanted to do for my graduation thesis, but I didn’t because I found out some random professor in HKU has done it 😂
- VideoRAG: This is the project I thought of reimplementing and improving so that Dr. Bernard Ghanem at IVUL can accept it as an internship project
- DeepTutor: AI-Powered Personalized Learning Assistant. This is quite close to my current idea for the graduation thesis: AI-Powered System for MOOC Generation
On his site, he says he is open for “Research Assistant/Remote Interns/Visitors”, but he preferes long projects (>= 6 months).
You should email him with the following content:
- Use email subject as “Prospective Student: Your Name - Your Affiliation”.
- Please describe your i) Education background; ii) Research experience and achievements; iii) Programming/Theoretical skills.
- Please attach your resume (including your publications, ranking/GPA, anything important) with a pdf file.
Professor Ping Luo
Many of his recent work focuses on gnerative models, especially diffusion models.
Many of his work is in the are of image generation, video generation, text to image/video generation, 3D vision, scene understanding, and medical image analysis.
He is the author of the CelebA dataset which I have used in the VAE project.
He says on his site that he is actively recruting “Research Assistants (RAs), Interns and Research Scientists”. You should email him through pluo.lhi@gmail.com.
Professor Lingpeng Kong
Head of NLP lab in HKU.
Says he takes interns whom usually know (students in his courses). No point in trying here.
Professor Yi Ma
Many of his recent work is related to robotics.
He is also a professot in Berkeley.
I don’t think he is suitable.
Professor Hengshuang Zhao
His focus is on visual scene understanding, generative models, visual content generation, and LLM Applications
He says his lab is looking for interns. You should email him with your resume.
My Plan
I shall email both Professor Chao Huang and Professor Ping Luo, and see if they are interested in taking me as an intern.
If I recieve no response after 2 weeks, I will apply directly through the application form with the following list of supervisors:
- Professor Chao Huang
- Professor Ping Luo
- Professor Hengshuang Zhao
As of this moment, I am undecided on the research area to mention in the application form.
